Make Duʿāʾ Big: You Are Calling Upon the Lord of the Heavens
When you raise your hands in duʿāʾ, pause for a moment and reflect on Who you are calling upon.
You are calling upon the Lord of the heavens and the earth — the One whose power has no limit, whose mercy has no end, and whose decree is never delayed or mistaken.
This is the same Lord who:
-
Rescued Yusuf عليه السلام from the depths of a dark well and raised him to honor and leadership.
-
Saved Ibrahim عليه السلام from a blazing fire that was commanded to become cool and safe.
-
Healed Ayyub عليه السلام after years of severe illness and restored to him what he had lost.
-
Parted the sea for Musa عليه السلام, carving a path where there was none.
-
Rescued Yunus عليه السلام from the darkness of the whale and the depths of the ocean.
-
Saved Nuh عليه السلام from the flood and made him a sign for generations.
-
Granted Zakariya عليه السلام a child in old age when hope seemed distant.
-
Took Muhammad ﷺ on the miraculous Night Journey beyond the limits of this world.
The same Allah who responded to them is the One you call upon today.
